Dr. T.S.G.Peiris is appointed as Acting-Head of Department

As Dr.Malhardeen will be on leave till the 26th of April, Dr Peiris  will be acting as Head of Department. Students are advised to email the respective lecturers , to make a prior apppointment.

PGDiploma/M.Sc. in Business Statistics Degree -Preliminary Interview

Students who had applied for the above mentioned course, were interviewd by Dr.Peries to check their eligibily requirments to enrol for the post gradate studies at the department.The Interviews took place  on the 13th of March. Around 20 students faced the interview before the panel of judges. They will be later notified if they are selected or not.

Annual General Meeting of the Mathematics Society

The Annual General Meeting of the Mathematics Society  ( also known as the Maths club) of the University of Moratuwa was held on the 04th of March 2009 at the ENTC auditorium .The occasion was graced by our beloved chief guest Dr.Ranga Rodrigo, who has been supporting the society from its inception. He presented on the topic "Eigen faces"- An application of Principal Component Analysis in the field of face recognition. Our Head of Department, Dr. Malhardeen encouraged the students by expressing the beauty of mathematics as a tool for innovation and a way for aesthetic pleasure. The Academic staff of the department was also present at the occasion.

 
As the main event of the agenda, the committee for the year 2010/2011 were elected and appointed to take duties from there onwards. We wish the new committee every success on its future endeavors.

 

First Department Meeting for the Year 2010

The first department meeting for the year took place  on the 25th of February 2010. The meeting was chaired by Dr.Malhardeen ( HOD). Prof A.K.W.Jayawardene, Dean- faculty  of Engineering graced the meeting with his valuable presence and encouragement. All the staff members were present at the  meeting.
