MA301 : Repeat Examinations for the Level 2 students (Semester 2: 2009/2010)

The repeat examination for the above mentined exam will be held on the 18th of August  2009 at the Department of Mathematics at 12 noon. Please pass this message to the civil, earth, materials and textile students

Dr. T.S.G Peiris receives Presidential award for research 2003-2006

Dr. T S G Peiris, Senior Lecturer in Statistics at the Department of Mathematics  has been awarded Presidential Awards for Research 2003-2006 by HE the President at a ceremony held on 27th July at 10.30 am at Temple Trees.  This award is   given for recognition of authors pursing research in Sri Lankan institution for their publications which have effectively appeared  in the Science Criterion Index of 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.   This is selected by the National Research Council in Sri Lanka.

Mrs. Asoka Piyaseeli completes 30 years of service at the Department of Mathematics

On the 15th of July 2010, the staff members and well wishers  of the department of mathematics joined together to felicitate and celebrate 30 years of tremendous service rendered by our dear Asoka miss ( as known by everyone) to the department of mathematics and the University as a whole. She has been the connecting element of the department and has always given her BEST for the well being and progress of the department. With 30 years of experience, she carries a legacy of memories and rich memories of the department, and we were fortunate to listen to her speak the Historical events that our department could boast about.

I should also not forget to mention the encouraging speeches given by Prof  G.T.F De silva ( Former Head Department of Mathematics and Vice chancellor of University of Moratuwa ), Dr Malhardeen( Head) and Mrs P.S. Yatapana who have shared wonderful memories of the department with Asoka miss.

MA0010 Course schedule: 2010

This Course is conducted for the second time as a compulsory module for the Preacademic term. Those who are interested in learning  (from level 2 and above) more about the History and Philosphy of Mathematics are most welcome to join this lectures every friday. contact the department for the time slots.
